Realistic 3D audio depends on HRTFs, acoustic measurements unique to each listener’s head and ears that are slow and costly to collect. I coordinated the largest open dataset of its kind (400+ measured and 200 synthetic HRTFs with 3D head and ear scans) and built the Spatial Audio Metrics toolbox, now used in the LAP Challenge, graduate teaching and industry spatial audio challenges.
